Jay Anast

Jay is a third generation Oakland resident, and a business owner in West Oakland since 1982. After ten years running retail businesses in Oakland, he chose to switch to the recycling industry and purchased Alliance Recycling in 1992. His decision to do this was influenced by Jay’s desire to be of service to the disenfranchised, and the community as a whole; he saw recycling not only as a good business opportunity, but as a way to provide income for the needy and benefit the environment. He has since consistently contributed to numerous educational and community enhancement causes that won him a Special Recognition award from the West Oakland Community Association in 2000 – “in recognition of his long-standing dedication to West Oakland”.

Jay is married with three teen-age children who actively participate in the recycling business and the support of the community.

She has dedicated more than 17 years to the business of recycling at Alliance and has come to be an invaluable member of the Alliance family.
